"Planting the seeds of the rule of law and spreading the joy of sports" - Side notes of Beijing lawyer Liu Jianzhong's charity trip to Linzhi, Tibet

In August, the rainy season in Linzhi is about to end. The vegetation on both sides of the Brahmaputra River is deeply green, and the smell of highland barley and earth after the rain floats in the air. In this plateau city with an altitude of nearly 3,000 meters, the Capital Rule of Law Public Welfare Special Fund’s “Rule of Law Sunshine Sowing Plan” trip to Linzhi, Tibet, came as scheduled. As a member of this trip, lawyer Liu Jianzhong, equity partner of Jingsh Law Firm and director of the Corporate Law Professional Committee of Jingsh Law Firm (National), set out from Beijing, taking with him not only carefully prepared legal courses, but also a batch of basketballs, footballs and badmintons that he purchased at his own expense. In three days and seven schools, he stood in front of children of different ages and talked about laws, boundaries, and protection. Then he handed gifts to them one by one and gently told them:"Exercise more and grow up well."

Handover at the launch ceremonyAt ten o'clock in the morning on August 19, the launching ceremony was held in the multi-functional lecture hall of Linzhi No. 1 Primary School. During the donation session, lawyersLiu JianzhongandHe Fang** walked on the stage together and handed over the sporting goods they brought to the student representatives. There were more than ten students standing under the stage. Their school uniforms were washed clean, and some of their shoes were still stained with playground dust. When the brand-new basketballs, footballs, and badmintons were handed to them, the children looked down at the balls in their arms, and then looked up at the uncles and aunts in front of them. Some smiled shyly, and some whispered "Thank you." There were not many lively scenes. The sunshine on the plateau shone quietly on everyone, but the simple joy was more moving than any applause.

After the launching ceremony**,Liu Jianzhongand lawyerHe Fangwent into the class to teach**"Youth does not "cross the line" and is a good boy who abides by the law". They started from the scenarios that children may encounter in daily life - what to do if strangers on the Internet ask to transfer money, and whether giving nicknames to classmates is bullying - and told the children in plain language: the law is not a distant article, but an armor that can protect themselves.

From one school to anotherIn the afternoon of the same day,the lecturer group came toLingzhi Bayi Middle School**.Lawyer Liu Jianzhong stood on the podium again and continued to teach students**"Youth does not "cross the line" and is a good young man who abides by the law"**. After changing the classroom and changing the face, he still patiently broke down the cases and encouraged the children to ask bold questions. He used three age red lines: "civil line, administrative line, and criminal line" to clarify the legal responsibilities at key nodes such as 8 years old, 14 years old, and 16 years old, breaking the misunderstanding that "minors are not responsible". In view of the five major "minefields" such as campus bullying, cyber violence, bill fraud, campus loans and drug crimes, the course not only analyzes the consequences of civil compensation, administrative detention and even criminal penalties, but also provides specific "self-rescue guides" and rights protection paths, and highlights help hotlines such as 12355 and 12348.

During the "Let's Have a Court Session" event at Linzhi Experimental Primary School, lawyer Liu Jianzhong was with the children throughout the process. He took everyone through the positions and procedures over and over again - from announcing court discipline to court investigation, presenting and cross-examining evidence, and explained every link in detail. After the official "trial" session, the children performed their duties in the "courtroom" made up of long desks. The "presiding judge" tried hard to make a steady sound with the gavel, and the "defender" went from being nervous at the beginning to gradually arguing hard. At the end of the trial, lawyer Liu Jianzhong walked among the children and recounted several procedural details: "Every aspect of the court is for the sake of fairness - to allow the plaintiff to clearly express his grievances, to allow the defendant to have a chance to defend himself, and to let the judge listen to both sides before making a judgment." The children nodded thoughtfully.

Last day, still on the roadOn the last day of the event,Lawyer Liu Jianzhongcame toLingzhi Bayi District Middle School. Most of the students in this public junior high school come from farmers and herdsmen families in various towns and villages in Bayi District. Tibetan students account for up to 95% of the school. In addition, there are also students from ethnic minorities such as Hui, Monba, and Lhoba. Since their homes are far from the school, more than 90% of students choose to live on campus and can only go home for the weekend every Friday afternoon. After lawyer Liu Jianzhongparticipated in the moot court guidance,he immediately taught theRule of Law Public Welfare Course to the students. He deliberately combined the students' backgrounds from farming and pastoral areas to explain legal knowledge with cases close to life. The students listened with special concentration. After class, several boys chased them into the corridor to ask questions. He patiently answered them one by one and did not turn around until the preparation bell rang for the next class.

Why basketball, football, badminton

During the three days and seven schools, lawyer Liu Jianzhong personally handed over the sporting goods to each other for every donation. Someone asked him why he chose these three, and his answer was simple: "Because the children need to run and jump. The rule of law class teaches boundaries, and the physical education class also teaches rules - fouls on the court are punished, and offside does not count. These principles are the same as the law. They teach people to learn respect and self-discipline." He didn't say much, just handed the balls out one by one, like completing a quiet ritual.

These sporting goods are left in the equipment rooms of seven schools and will also appear on countless after-school playgrounds in the future. The basketball will bounce on the cement floor, the football will roll around on the grass slope, and the badminton will spin and fly in the wind on the plateau - and the lawyer from Beijing has returned to his daily work, continuing to hold court sessions, write representations, and handle complicated cases. Occasionally, he would look at the photos of children holding balls on his phone, and he would stop and look at them twice, and then smile.

Where the sun shinesThe "Rule of Law Sunshine Sowing Plan"of the Capital Rule of Law Public Welfare Fund came to an end in Linzhi. Looking back on these three days, there are no magnificent stories, only lessons one after another, warm handovers one after another, and the smiling faces of the children. Lawyer Liu Jianzhong used his profession to plant the seeds of the rule of law, and used his heart to send the joy of sports. He didn't know when these seeds would germinate, and he wasn't sure who would hit the ball first - but he knew that in Linzhi in August, the sunshine shone equally on every child, and he happened to walk through that patch of sunshine!
